Arsenal have upped their attempts to bring in a striker before the transfer deadline by holding talks with German forward Miroslav Klose of Lazio, according to reports on Goal.com.
The Gunners have been in talks all week with Schalke for Draxler but with Wenger not willing to meet the German clubs evaluation, it seems we have now switched our focus to a short term option.
The report states that that the Gunners have sent their chief contract negotiator Dick Law to Italy in order to broker a deal that will bring the veteran hit man to the Emirates as cover for current front man Olivier Giroud.
Klose is now 35 years old but has been one of the most prolific strikers in Europe over the past 10 years, scoring 203 goals in 514 club appearances during time at the likes of Bayern Munich and Werder Bremen, as well as 68 in 130 for Germany.
He obviously isn’t a player the club will count on for an extended period of time, but there’s no doubting his ability to still put the ball in the back of the net when needed. It looks like the deal could be done any time soon.

But the bad news is that the Draxler deal looks completely dead and all the leading sites have also confirmed that it will be next to impossible for the Gunners to sign him today.
