Arsenal’s promising young midfielder Vlad Dragomir has signed his first professional contract at the club, with the news announced on Arsenal‘s official website.
The Romanian teen made the switch to north London last summer with a lot of hype surrounding him, and now at 17-years-old he’s signed a professional deal.
The versatile midfielder has played in a number of advanced positions for the youth side, and while he hasn’t exactly set the youth leagues alight, he does look to have a huge amount of potential. He very much seems like an Arsene Wenger type of player, so it’s easy to see why he’s been handed a full deal.
Obviously this isn’t the transfer news that most Arsenal fans want to hear, with many desperate to see some senior – and preferably world class – players signed this summer. We’ve seen the benefits of a strong youth system following the emergence of Hector Bellerin and Alex Iwobi though, and Dragomir looks like he could eventually follow in their footsteps.

Unsurprisingly at such a young age, he’s yet to make a senior appearance either at Arsenal or for Romania. He does have youth level caps for Romania though, and it will be interesting to see how far he progresses in the next few years. Arsenal obviously have a plethora of promising young No.10s, but perhaps Dragomir has what it takes to move ahead of them all in the pecking order.
