He will now likely miss Arsenal’s next four matches including a crucial FA Cup quarterfinal against Man United at Old Trafford on Monday and the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie against AS Monaco.
Wenger did have some more positive news, however, with left back Nacho Monreal having a late fitness test today to assess whether he can make the trip up to Manchester.
At Colney. Wenger: "Gabriel has a hamstring injury and he will be out for 2-3 weeks. Monreal might come back – he has a test today."

The Spaniard missed the match in midweek with a back strain.
The injury update almost certainly means that Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny will partner in the centre of the Arsenal defence for their FA Cup tie which could raise concerns about squad stability with the Frenchman’s chronic achilles tendinitis.
