Arsenal have reportedly contacted PSG in the hopes of signing winger Lucas Moura from the Parisian side. The French champions signed Julian Draxler this transfer window which seems to have thrown doubt over Moura’s future at the club (via Tutto Mercato).
Arsenal and PSG were in the spotlight in recent days over the potential transfer of Alexis Sanchez but new reports indicate that another player could make the move between the two clubs. Journalist Marco Conterio has claimed that Arsenal have contacted the French champions with an interest in winger Lucas Moura.
The Brazilian moved to the Parisian side in 2013 and after a shaky start, the 24-year-old has really developed well in the last couple of seasons. Moura is enjoying his best season at the club to date and showed that quality in the Champions League match against Arsenal earlier this season.
Moura is now an important first-team player at the Parc des Princes but some doubt has been raised over his future by the recent acquisition of Julian Draxler. The German arrived from Wolfsburg earlier this month and scored his first goal for the club last weekend.
The links with a move to the Emirates come from Tutto Mercato and journalist Marco Conterio but there are some doubts over this rumour. For one, Moura is having a good season at the club and if PSG were to offload a winger, you’d expect them to get rid of Angel Di Maria or Hatem Ben Arfa first.
Another reason to doubt this story is whether Arsenal actually need Moura. With Alexis Sanchez, Alex Iwobi, Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Lucas Perez at the club, it’s fair to say that the Gunners have options out wide. You’d expect one of those players to leave before another arrives and with the recent rumours surrounding Alexis Sanchez, that’s perhaps where this story comes from.
