Theo Walcott is apparently a top target for West Ham this summer, with the 27-year-old set to be the subject of a £25m bid, according to the Daily Mail.
The speedster has been shocking this season, and after showing huge promise at the end of last season he’s taken several steps backwards. He’s currently nowhere near the starting XI, and the likes of Alex Iwobi, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Joel Campbell, and Danny Welbeck have deservedly been keeping him out of the team.
Having signed him at 16-years-old, Arsene Wenger obviously had high hopes for Walcott. He’s barely progressed since his teenage years though, and certainly hasn’t even come close to realising his massive potential.
Many Arsenal fans are calling for him to be sold, and the Mail’s report suggests they could get their wish. Slaven Bilic is apparently a big fan of the misfiring forward, and is looking to make a big money move for him. If we could get £25m for Walcott that would be a great bit of business, and we could arguably replace him with someone far better.
A move to West Ham may well appeal to Walcott too, as he’s not exactly flourishing at Arsenal. He’d get more regular game time, have less pressure riding on him, and yet would still be more of a big fish than he is at Arsenal. It also wouldn’t be as big a step down as it could be, with West Ham coming close to competing for the top four yet again and regular Europa League certainly not out of the question.

This could be a move that benefits everyone, although obviously after a decade at the club it would be a shame to see Walcott succeed elsewhere.
