Real Madrid are lining up a £45 million bid for Liverpool striker Luis Suarez this January which could see Karim Benzema make a switch to long term admirers Arsenal, according to reports in The Express.
Suarez has been in sensational form this season and made headlines with a remarkable four goal display against Norwich in midweek, which took his tally to 13 goals in just 10 games so far this campaign.
The report suggests Carlo Ancelotti wants to sign Suarez to form a devastating forward-line with Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale, and will test Liverpool’s resolve with an opening £45 million offer when the transfer window re opens next month.
It further states that the La Liga outfit will cash-in on Karim Benzema in order to raise the funds they need with Arsenal understood to be heading the queue of likely destinations for the 25 year old.
The Frenchman was strongly linked with a move to the Emirates in the summer and boss Arsene Wenger has retained his interest as he looks to bring in another striker next month to boost the Gunners title push, but any potential move is wholly dependent on Real landing Suarez. Benzema has 18 months left on his contract and has endured a difficult season with the Madrid fans and is believed to be open to a switch to the Emirates
He can play as the main forward or in a supporting role on either side of the attack. He can drop back and play behind a main striker, although it isn’t a role he particular enjoys. His goal scoring record is impressive but he is more than goals, as he has played well in Ronaldo’s shadow.

Last season he only scored 11 goals but did supply 12 assists, is a natural goal scorer and he is the poacher Arsenal need. He isn’t afraid to take on defenders and likes to run with the ball and has the body strength to succeed in England.
Benzema would be a perfect fit for the Gunners as we need someone who could convert the chances and the Frenchman is excellent in doing that. Some have compared the former Lyon striker to Oliver Giroud but the Real Madrid player is a better forward and is sharper in front of goal. The deal will depend on Suarez’s move to Madrid like it the case of Ozil & Bale, and it remains to be seen how willing Liverpool would be in selling him in January.
