Despite completing the transfer of Gabriel Paulista, Arsene Wenger is still on the lookout defensive reinforcements this January. We have been heavily linked with a move for Valencia left-back Jose Luis Gaya, but may miss out on him due to the La Liga side’s asking price, according to talkSPORT.
A left-back may not seem like a top priority at the moment, but with Kieran Gibbs’ injury history and Nacho Monreal’s often erratic performances, it has certainly proved a problem area for us at times.
It looks as though we are going to have to forget about Luis Gaya however, with Valencia slapping a £17m price tag on the young star.
At just 19-years-old that kind of fee would certainly be a gamble, and with Real Madrid already planning to meet the valuation the decision could be taken out of our hands anyway.

The youngster has been superb for the fourth placed La Liga side this season, and has been a huge part of their defensive stability.
With his current deal set to run until 2016, Valencia are hoping to extend his contract as soon as possible. With interest from a number of top clubs however, he may be unwilling to do so.
