This one from the Mirror seems like a pretty outrageous transfer rumour…
They reckon that Valencia will try and manoeuvre a situation where they take Manchester City up on the clause inserted in Alvaro Negredo’s loan contract and sign him permanently…
But that they’ll use him as a financial ploy, so that they can then sell the 29-year-old to a Premier League club – with Liverpool, Everton and Arsenal all mentioned in the report as potential suitors.
Negredo was excellent in the Premier League during his single season stint at the Etihad – scoring 16 goals – but strangely – the Sky Blues chose to ship him back to Spain on loan…
He’s powerful, can hold up the ball, and can finish with aplomb, but importantly – we don’t consider him a huge upgrade on Olivier Giroud.
Our French forward is technically better and brings our midfielders into play, although Negredo is a better finisher.

If we are buying a centre-forward this summer – and we really hope we are – then we should be aiming a little higher.
