Arsenal full back Mathieu Debuchy says that he will probably return to full training next month. The player, who was purchased over the summer window, featured in a few games for Arsenal but was carried off in the 2-2 draw against Manchester City at the Emirates. The ankle injury he suffered in that game has kept him sidelined until now.
My injury is now better. I work hard every day with the physio and I want to be back on the pitch in December. I’m looking forward to it.
I was really proud when I signed for Arsenal and it has been frustrating getting injured so soon, but I am focused on coming back stronger. I am very positive about that.
Training at Arsenal is an extremely high standard. I’m nearly 30 but I’m still improving by training with players who are of such a high quality, like everyone at Arsenal.
It’s been more frustrating watching from the stands than being on the pitch. The last two games have been quite positive and hopefully when we face Manchester United we’ll come out on top.
The defender seemed determined to come back stronger than before, and we could certainly use him. Thanks to his injury, Calum Chambers has been forced to play at right back on a regular basis, which left us with no cover for the center back positions. Thus when Koscielny was injured, Nacho Monreal had to be pressed into service as a center back.
With the return of Debuchy, Chambers will be able to move into a central role alongside Per Mertesacker, which is where Wenger wants to play the youngster. And when Koscielny recovers from his tendon injury, we might actually be able to rotate our defensive players around.
