Laurent Koscielny has grown into one of the world’s top defenders, but the Frenchman recently revealed that Didier Drogba is the toughest striker he has had to face in England.
Despite coming from humble beginnings in footballing terms, Koscielny has found himself as one of the first names on the Arsenal teamsheet.
The tough tackling centre-back has hugely boosted our defensive strength since joining the club in 2010, but still finds a number of strikers difficult to deal with.
When asked who the most challenging striker he ever faced was, two names popped into his head.
- Arsenal reportedly weighing up prospect of re-signing in-form goalscorer
- Recently departed Arsenal star reveals he’s living his ‘dream’ at new club
- Mesut Ozil remains defiant over future but slams Arsenal for lack of loyalty
Lionel Messi was understandably the first, with the diminutive Argentine a handful for any defender.
But it was Didier Drogba that earned the title of the Premier League’s toughest striker, with Koscielny branding him the most difficult forward to play against in England.

The Ivorian was unquestionably (and annoyingly) a fantastic player in his day. He is getting on in years however, and is no longer the same striker he once was.
