Arsenal have been handed a tough draw in the last 16 of the Champions League after being paired with German champions Bayern Munich.
The Gunners went into Monday’s draw in Nyon as group winners after beating Paris Saint-Germain to top spot in Group A.
Bayern Munich, meanwhile, finished as runners-up to Atletico Madrid and were one of the tougher opponents the Gunners could have faced.
The two teams have faced each other four times in the last five seasons and will renew hostilities in February with the first leg at Allianz Arena before the return at the Emirates.
Arsene Wenger’s side will be hoping to make it through to the quarter-finals of the competition for the first time since 2009-10.
