Arsenal have drawn Nottingham Forest for the next round of the EFL Cup, formally known as the Capital One Cup. The match will take place next month at the City Ground (via Arsenal.com).
It’s a competition that Arsenal haven’t had much luck with in recent seasons. The Gunners have often used it as an opportunity to showcase the club’s young talent but the team has lost two finals in the last ten years.
The draw for the third round of this year’s competition was made on Wednesday evening and the Gunners now know their fate. They will travel to Nottingham Forest in the week commencing September 19.
Forest secured two 2-1 wins to get to this stage. They knocked out Doncaster Rovers in the first round thanks to a ninetieth minute Jamie Ward goal and then got past Millwall on Tuesday night thanks to another late goal, this time scored by striker Lars Veldwijk.
The other standout fixtures of the draw are as follows:-
