The squads for England’s U21 qualifiers have been announced, and two Arsenal stars have been named among them, as reported by the Express.
Calum Chambers and Chuba Akpom are the pair in question, with the two youngsters joining the likes of James Wilson, Nathan Redmond, Dele Alli, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
Chambers was a surprise starter in our goalless draw against Liverpool this past Monday night, with Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny both unavailable. The 20-year-old really struggled against the pace and power of Christian Benteke, but on a more fundamental level, his passing was all over the place, his decision making was poor, and he really didn’t look comfortable.
You have to have some sympathy for the 20-year-old, but he really needs more experience before he’s thrown into the deep end like that again.
Akpom is the other player named, and the young striker is currently on loan with Championship side Hull – where he has gotten off to a fantastic start.
The 19-year-old looked set to get his chance at Arsenal this season after an impressive pre-season showing. It seems as though he is going to have to wait for his chance however, and will instead be earning valuable experience in the Championship.

Both players have extremely bright futures, but are still arguably a long way from being ready for regular first team action.
