Arsenal duo Aaron Ramsey and Mesut Ozil could both miss Sunday’s Community Shield clash against Chelsea at Wembley.
According to football.london, the pair both missed training on Saturday, despite Arsene Wenger insisting earlier in the week he expected them to return today.
With Arsenal set to open their Premier League campaign on Friday night against Leicester, there is little point in risking either player, and the Gunners may have to make do without them.
It also remains to be seen whether Alexis Sanchez will be involved in the game. The Chilean only returned to training this week, but knowing his tenacious nature, he will surely be determined to play some part.
Arsenal should, however, be able to start with new signing Alexandre Lacazette as he begins life in English football with a game against the Premier League champions.
Elsewhere, Francis Coquelin is also unavailable after picking up an injury in the Emirates Cup while Santi Cazorla and Gabriel are also long-term absentees.

Chelsea, meanwhile, also have injury problems and will be without key man Eden Hazard as well as new signing Tiemoue Bakayoko and wing-back Victor Moses.
The Blues are however expected to include new signings Alvaro Morata and Antonio Rudiger in their starting XI for the traditional curtain-raiser at Wembley.
