We’ve previously been linked with FC Schalke’s Leroy Sane, but apparently cooled our interest due to increasing competition (via the Mirror). We’re being linked with the attacking midfielder once again, although we’re facing some serious competition for his signature, according to the Express.

The report suggests Manchester United are leading the race, with a £31m bid being plotted. It’s not like we couldn’t afford to gazump them though, as money no longer seems to be as much of an issue at Arsenal.
Sane insists he’s still unclear about where his future lies, as he hasn’t really been thinking about a transfer this season. He claims he’s waiting until after the Euro 2016 Championships to make a decision, but certainly doesn’t rule out an exit from the Bundesliga club.
“Yes you hear about the reports, but I try not to put much attention on it. I try not to think about it,” he said.
“I still have a contract with Schalke and I am happy there.

“The whole season I was focused on just the season and always wanted to help the team. Everything else takes a backseat right now.
“I am here with a goal in mind and that is to be in the final Euro squad.
“I will make a decision after my time with the national team.”
We badly need attacking reinforcements this summer, and while most fans are calling for a new striker to be signed, you can’t ignore the need for a right winger. With Danny Welbeck injured, we’re really lacking top quality options out wide. Theo Walcott, Alex Iwobi, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are the most realistic options, although Arsene Wenger is known for deploying centrally minded players like Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey on the wings.
We really need a top quality wide man on the right though, and along with a striker that needs to be our priority over the next few months. Sane would certainly fill that void, and if we can get him this summer then we should be doing everything we can to beat Man United to his signature.
Arsenal transfer news
Securing the signing of Granit Xhaka this early has given us real hope that this summer will be a big one, so hopefully he’s followed by a few more signings and Wenger doesn’t disappoint us.
