Theo Walcott has been unimpressive recently, and is consequently being linked with a move away from Arsenal. West Ham are apparently willing to make a club record £26m bid for the pacy forward, with Slaven Bilic’s side looking to build on the impressive form they’ve shown this season, as reported by the Brentwood Gazette.
The Hammers are flying high in fifth place at the moment, and bizarrely a Champions League spot isn’t looking out of the question. The massive amount of money involved in the Premier League and Europe’s top competition mean our London rivals would be able to spend a little more, and they are apparently willing to splash the cash on Walcott.
The speedster has failed to realise the massive potential he showed as a youngster, and it’s still hard to see where he fits in at Arsenal. He regularly shows glimpses of real quality, but his inconsistent performances are a real concern.
Occasionally Walcott has an absolute screamer, and his pace opens up defences with ease. Every now and again it looks as though his finishing has drastically improved too, but then just as suddenly he returns to having a complete lack of composure.
Many Arsenal fans would welcome Walcott’s departure, as they’ve grown tired with his lack of progression. It would be a shame to see him leave the club – he’s our longest serving player after all – but if we can use the money to replace him with someone better than who would complain?
