Jeff Reine-Adelaide looked a hugely promising talent during pre-season, and has continued to impress at youth level throughout the season. Things could have been very different though, as we reportedly had to beat off interest from Chelsea and Newcastle to sign him this past summer, as reported by the Express.
The 17-year-old looks likely to have an incredibly bright future ahead of him, and despite his tender age showed at the Emirates Cup that he’s capable of performing alongside some of the game’s top talent.
We signed him for £3m from French side Lens (via the Express), a potential bargain when you look at the player he could become. The Express cite France Football though, who claim Chelsea and Newcastle also looked to bring him to the Premier League over the summer.
Working under Arsene Wenger was likely to be a real draw, as not only is the French manager a world renowned coach, but he is also known for giving youth a chance.
Reine-Adelaide may feel he has an excellent chance of realising his massive potential at Arsenal, as so many young talents have done before.
