Arsenal have been frustrated once again in our attempts to prise away Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech after the Blues reportedly indicated their intent in receiving a homegrown player in return, Sky Sports report.
Cech is set to meet his club this week and inform them of his desire to move to us, as the report suggest, but Chelsea are trying to make the deal as difficult as possible.
The Telegraph reported earlier on this week that Arsene Wenger will not allow Theo Walcott or Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to be included in any potential deal for Cech after rumours circulated that Jose Mourinho wanted one of the England forwards.
It is rather difficult to uncover the thinking behind Chelsea’s recent demands given that they have a number of homegrown stars on their books.

Ultimately, this deal will determine how serious we are in our attempts to compete with Chelsea for the league given the psychological boost Cech’s potential arrival will give our dressing room.
In the past, we’ve tended to walk away from huge transfer deals when they transformed into public a saga as we witnessed with Luis Suarez and it’s time for Ivan Gazidis and Arsene Wenger to stand strong.
We could potentially conclude this deal on our terms given the player’s desire to join us – if reports are to be believed – and we must be prepared to play the long game.
