FC Barcelona have reportedly joined Arsenal in the race to sign Schalke and Germany midfielder Leon Goretzka (via The Express).
It wouldn’t be the first time FC Barcelona have irritated Arsenal fans in the transfer window and it probably won’t be the last either.
The Spanish side have reportedly joined Arsenal in the race to sign a player who the Gunners have been chasing for some time.
Leon Goretzka is a 22-year-old Germany international midfielder who impressed immensely for his country during this summer’s Confederation’s Cup.
Goretzka was linked with a move to Arsenal earlier in the window as well as looming reports that he has signed a pre-contract agreement with Bayern Munich.
Goretzka’s contract at Schalke is set to expire next season and if he hasn’t already signed an agreement with Bayern then perhaps a deal could be reached.

Leon Goretzka is an excellent midfielder and would be a shrewd addition to the Arsenal squad. The German would also constitute something of a coup considering the reported interest from FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich. The Gunners need reinforcement in the middle of the park and Goretzka would be just that.
