Arsenal have been handed a boost in our reported attempts to land Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin after Ronald Koeman admitted that the Saints star will decide his future, the Daily Express report.
Schneiderlin has been repeatedly linked with us over the past few months and is one of Arsene Wenger’s priority signings this summer, as The Evening Standard suggests.
One of the standout midfielders this season, Schneiderlin will hand a major boost to whichever club lands him this summer in what could be an enthralling title race next season.
Arsenal transfer rumours
“I don’t know [if he’s played his last game], or about interest or about bids,” Koeman was quoted as saying.
“We like to keep everybody but we know sometimes it’s difficult.
“There aren’t any serious bids for the player. He is happy but it’s up to the player.”
Despite Francis Coquelin’s sensational performances this campaign, relying on one player has been one of our drawbacks over the past few years.
Given our injury record, it would be rather naive to rely on Coquelin to maintain form and fitness in a 50+ game season in all competitions.

Also, the future of midfield trio Mikel Arteta, Mathieu Flamini and Abou Diaby is far from secure and their potential departures will leave us short in the middle of the park.
We’d love to see the French battler at the Emirates, provided the price isn’t too crazy, which is often a problem with impressive Premier League performers.
