Arsenal have been handed a boost in our reported attempts to land Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema with the news that the Spanish giants are targetting Juventus forward Fernando Llorente, ESPN reports.
Llorente may become a victim of Juventus’s spending in recent months with the likes of Mario Mandzukic and Paulo Dybala arriving following their successful campaign.
ESPN suggests that the Spaniard is seen as a backup option to Benzema next season, but any potential move will certainly fuel more talk regarding the Frenchman’s departure.
It had been reported that we’re planning a £40million move for the former Lyon forward as Wenger looks to piece together a title-winning squad (via The Sun).
Arsenal transfer rumours
Llorente’s move will also back up claims from AS, who stated that Rafa Benitez is planning to play Cristiano Ronaldo as a central striker with Benzema not part of his plans.
