According to the Telegraph, Arsenal have had a £2 million offer rejected for 17-year-old starlet Krystian Bielik, but are expected to return with a higher offer for the third time.
The Legia Warsaw defensive midfielder has been courted by the Gunners for some time having visited the clubs training facilities last year. Other clubs such as VfB Stuttgart, Hamburger SV and AS Roma have also expressed an interest hence Legia’s reluctance to sell a player they bought last year for £9,500.
Arsenal are after a defensive midfielder to provide some cover for the defence but have so far struggled to land their targets. It appears Wenger rates Bielik highly and sees him as a potential first team candidate in the future should they manage to land the Pole youngster.
Bielik recently discussed his initial concerns but ambition to play for Arsenal.
He said:
I confess that I’m a little bit afraid. Only a madman would have no concerns… However, you have to be confident, and I’m sure in myself and my abilities.

If I go it’s not to be more in the media, but just to fulfil dreams and fight for a place in the line-up. I’m not saying that at once I’ll be in the Arsenal starting XI, but I would like to be an important and positive figure in the eyes of coach Wenger.
Player focus
The tall, powerful defensive midfielder is thought to be strong in the air and quick off the mark. He is someone who does not shy away from making the necessary tackles and doing the hard grind in midfield, but also likes to launch forward and is strong in the transition from defence to attack.
Bielik has two appearances to his name for the U16 Poland youth international team but just five for Legia Warsaw.

Should we buy?
If Arsenal can manage to secure the highly-rated youngster Bielik will certainly be one to keep an eye on but will be some time from cracking into the first team. The Gunners need a few more powerful central midfielders to come through the ranks and supplement many of our young attacking and defensive talents.
