Reports suggest Arsene Wenger and Arsenal are in for a busy summer, with a £60m double swoop for Leicester City duo Riyad Mahrez and N’Golo Kante in the works, according to France Football (via the Express).
The report claims Arsenal have already initiated talks with Leicester, with Wenger keen to get a deal done as soon as possible. After the season both players have had they are unquestionably going to be topping the transfer lists of many clubs, so we’ll need to move quickly if we want to beat everybody to the punch.
Kante’s £20m release clause has been made common knowledge (via the Express), while Leicester have apparently put a £40m price tag on Mahrez’s head.
It’s obviously unclear at this point whether their fantastic seasons were anything more than a one off, but if they can replicate their fine form next season then it could prove £60m well spent. The fans have been calling for Wenger to splash the cash for quite some time, and if he spends £60m on two players this summer then he can hardly be criticised for his frugality – regardless of the success the pair experience at Arsenal.
N’Golo Kante has been one of the best midfielders in the Premier League this season, with his energy and work-rate providing the engine that runs Leicester. Mahrez meanwhile, was the PFA Player of the Year, and his goals and assists were arguably the driving force behind the Foxes’ title win.

If we could sign these two as well as a striker this summer, then we’d certainly be a force to be reckoned with again. A centre-back would also be nice, although we know Wenger doesn’t like to introduce too many new faces to the club at once.
