Arsene Wenger has been handed a boost as we prepare to face Manchester United this weekend, with the news that Danny Welbeck has recovered from his knee injury and is set to return, the Mirror reports.
Welbeck has missed our last two games with an inflamed knee, but it seems as though his problems have cleared up in time for him to face his former side once again.
The 23-year-old scored the winner at Old Trafford in our FA Cup victory, and could get another crack at them in the Premier League. Olivier Giroud has gone through a rather dry spell, having not scored in our last four league games – while he’s also been withdrawn by the boss in our last two home games.
Arsenal transfer news
Wenger admitted, as the report reveals, that he started Welbeck as a central striker on his return to Old Trafford as an incentive given Louis van Gaal’s criticism of the forward’s goalscoring record.
The lack of pace in the side has been evident in our last few games, and with Man United expected to dominate possession, Wenger should look to deploy Welbeck up front in order to maximise our threat on the counter-attack.
