Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny is a doubt for our game against Sunderland on Wednesday night with the Frenchman currently suffering from a bout of flu, Arsene Wenger confirmed.

Koscielny has been an ever-present in our defence since the turn of the year which has coincided with the return of our sound defensive record.
Over the past 18-months, Koscielny has started to get the recognition he deserves as one of the Premier League’s best defender which was recently echoed by Liverpool icon Jamie Carragher.

We need a point against relegation threatened Sunderland at the Emirates in order to secure third place, but a win would mean that finishing second remains a possibility.
Manchester City host Southampton on the final round of matches this season and only a defeat in that game would give us a chance of overtaking them in the Premier League table.
Should Koscielny miss out, it would be a great chance for Gabriel to stake a claim in the first team and convince Arsene Wenger that a new central defender this summer isn’t needed.
The Brazilian has been eased into proceedings this campaign with the aim that he will be ready to produce the performances he showed in La Liga on a weekly basis next season.
A partnership of Gabriel and Koscielny would be ideal. Pace, aggression and technical ability. Title-winning pair!
