Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Everton midfielder Ross Barkley, who is widely expected to leave Goodison Park this summer.
According to the Evening Standard, both Arsenal and Tottenham are eyeing the 23-year-old, who is into the last year of his current deal.
However, Barkley will not come cheap with, Everton, who have had a busy summer already in the transfer market, apparently wanting £50 million.
The Englishman is currently recovering from surgery, which has ruled him out of the club’s pre-season tour, although he is expected to be fit before the end of August.
Tottenham have long been linked with a move for Barkley, but are yet to submit a bid and are yet to sign a player during the current transfer window.

However, there have also been reports the club are keen to bring in another midfielder, and Barkley looks to be one option at least.
Arsenal will also need to trim the squad at some point and there are a number of squad players who are expected to leave including: Kieran Gibbs, Mathieu Debuchy, Calum Chambers, Carl Jenksinson, Jack Wilshere and Lucas Perez.
