Arsene Wenger is reportedly interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain’s experienced midfielder Thiago Motta with the 32-year-old set to depart Ligue 1 this summer, the Metro reports.
Motta found first-team opportunities hard to come by towards the end of last season due to a combination of niggling injuries and the rise of Adrien Rabiot.
However, it seems as though Wenger is keen on making a move for a player who was a linchpin in Jose Mourinho’s all-conquering Inter Milan side of 2010.
Despite Mikel Arteta’s recent contract extension, the midfielder’s injury problems seem to have flared up again with the Dail Mail reporting that he has suffered another calf injury.
Motta is the complete midfielder and would give us another option without immediately unsettling Francis Coquelin’s secure position in the team.

The Italian is one of the most decorated midfield players of his generation having won two Champions League trophies and countless domestic titles with Barcelona, Inter Milan, and PSG.
As doubtful as it seems, signing Motta could prove to be a shrewd bit of business from the boss.
