Arsenal prepare approach for £12.6m German international
The report is based on comments from Arsenal legend Alan Smith, who believes the England international has already agreed on a free transfer to North London at the end of the season.
Alan Smith has just said live on Sky that he’s heard James Milner is off to Arsenal this summer on a free transfer.

The 29-year-old’s contract is set to expire this summer, as the Metro reports. Arsene Wenger is always on the lookout for bargains, and Milner could certainly prove to be just that.
He would be an excellent squad player, although it’s hard to see him being any more than that. He certainly wouldn’t make it into our starting XI at the moment, and if he isn’t starting then you’d have to question his reasons for coming.

The England international has won titles with City, and he has obviously been well compensated for his time at the club. It’s possible that he may be looking to ensure regular first team football as he heads into the twilight of his career, but would he really get that with us?
I certainly wouldn’t turn down James Milner, as he still has plenty to offer a top European team. But I find it hard to believe we would be able to give him what he wants, and feel he would be better off going to a team like Liverpool who actually need him in their starting XI.
