Former Gunner John Hartson claims we have to sign Gonzalo Higuain if we want to challenge for the title next season, and claims we should break the bank to bring him to the Emirates, as reported by the Metro.
We have shown an interest in Higuain before, but were pipped at the post by Napoli (via The Guardian). We looked close to signing him back when he was a Real Madrid star, and look to have the chance again this summer.
Higuain has been fantastic for Napoli, but the Metro claims he could be on his way out – with their lack of Champions League football a major factor.
Hartson claims we should jump at the chance to sign the Argentine, no matter the cost.
“Arsenal must aim high and sign Gonzalo Higuain for next season,” Hartson said.

“Arsene must break the bank and spend big if they are to go on and compete for the Premier League title after their excellent FA Cup win.
“He’s the kind of big name player Arsenal’s main rivals – including Chelsea and Manchester United – will be looking to sign.”
Higuain has scored 18 goals in Serie A this season, but it wasn’t enough to guide his side to more than a fifth placed finish.
We could certainly do with a striker to ease the burden on Olivier Giroud, but should we be splashing £42m on Gonzalo Higuain?
