Arsenal legend Paul Merson has launched a scathing attack on Arsene Wenger and the club’s hierarchy after what has been a disappointing transfer window, Sky Sports reports.
Merson believes that the lack of transfer activity in the window has given fans the right to feel aggrieved given that we pay some of the highest season-ticket prices in Europe.
Merson, who has had his disagreements with Wenger in the past, states that we’re being cheated at this moment in time and the cash reserves at the club belong to the fans, not the manager.
“It cheats the fans,” Merson told Sky Sports News HQ.
“If you’re an Arsenal season ticket holder, you’re paying top dollar. It’s their money. It’s the fans’ money. It’s not Arsene Wenger’s money.

“There’s a saying in life: Keep on doing the things you do and you’ll get the same results.”
Merson’s outburst came before the latest update from the club when it was announced that Danny Welbeck has undergone surgery and will be out for ‘a period of months’ (via Arsenal.com).
It further mystifies our transfer policy this summer with the club failing to identify a central striker to add to our striking options and possibly aid us towards a title challenge.
However, yet again, we’ve been left desperately short and it would take a miracle for us to win the Premier League this season.
