Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown took to Twitter to have his say on Diego Costa’s antics and was brief with his words when adding his wisdom on the situation.
I would love to have played against Diego Costa!
— Martin Keown (@martinkeown5) September 19, 2015
Keown claimed that he would’ve loved to play against Costa with our former defender universally known as one of the most rugged defenders the Premier League has ever witnessed.
He had a number of run-ins with former strikers across Europe and gained the nickname ‘the rash’ (via The Telegraph) such the close proximity between him and those he was tasked to mark.
Keown’s attack on Ruud Van Nistelrooy remains arguably the most iconic still image in Premier League history and is optimized everything he stood for as a professional footballer.

Gabriel seemed to be doing everything right when handling Diego Costa, refusing to back down while also standing up for Laurent Koscielny.
However, his inexperience showed once he lashed out at the Chelsea right in the full view of the referee, something Keown would’ve never have done.
