Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour believes that Manchester United’s deadline day signing Anthony Martial will not turn out to be a success given the huge price-tag he has to live up to, The Evening Standard reports.
Martial joined the Red Devils last week for a fee which could eventually exceed £50million, as the report suggests, and Parlour believes that the pressure will be too intense for the Frenchman.
With just over 50 appearances for Monaco, Louis van Gaal has definitely shelled out huge finances for Martial’s potential and our former midfielder doesn’t see his career at Old Trafford being successful.

“Will Martial succeed? I look forward to seeing him play, but I think it’s going to be a miss, because the money they’ve spent is an unbelievable amount,” Parlour was quoted as saying.
“With the money they’ve put out, I could be totally wrong, but I’m going to say miss on that one.”

Martial featured on the flanks for Monaco last season but has been heralded as a future centre-forward for France and the comparisons to Thierry Henry are inevitable.
However, with Wayne Rooney the bona fide first choice in Van Gaal’s current system, it’s difficult to see how Martial fits into the Dutchman’s first XI.
Martial will require patience and time, but is unlikely to get either due to the huge price-tag which now surrounds his every move.
