Thierry Henry is arguably the biggest Arsenal legend around, and is unquestionably one of the best strikers the game has ever seen. But when asked which current Premier League striker he’d most like to partner, he somewhat surprisingly answered Christian Benteke, as reported by talkSPORT.
The Belgian powerhouse recently completed his big money move to Liverpool, and looks an excellent signing for the Reds. He is yet to prove himself at the highest level, but has a superb mixture of pace and power.
Henry claims former Aston Villa star would be the perfect strike partner, as he could hold the ball up and allow the Frenchman to play off him.
“When someone asks me a question like that [who would you most like to play with] I think straight away, ‘can I play with him? Can he play with me?'” Henry said.
“I could have played with Benteke because I could have played off him. He can hold up the ball then I could have wandered around him. He takes all the knocks and kicks and I’m on the side.
“I think if he has an amazing season, Liverpool will be in the top four. It is a lot of pressure but that’s why they have paid the big money for him.

“I think if he does have a big season, one of those seasons where everything you touch goes in, he will be very important.
“He is a player that, right now when I look at the league, I would have liked to play with him.”
Olivier Giroud arguably could have done the same job, and his hold up and link up play may even be better than the Reds striker.
Henry clearly rates Benteke highly though, and he is usually spot on with regards to forwards.
Did we miss out by not signing Benteke? Or should we be aiming far higher than the 24-year-old?
