The Guardian have bravely released a report that Arsene Wenger is eyeing household football names Robert Lewandowski and Antoine Griezmann.
The Guardian claims that Arsene Wenger is hoping to snap up a marquee signing this summer. The report, though, states that the top target is slated to be the Polish striker, with the French attacker being a second option.
This claim by the British publication dropped on Thursday and it suggests that the Frenchman is looking to sign the Bayern Munich star, yet failed to cite any sources for that rumor. Although this report has been met with dubious reception, the Guardian have given reasons as to why this scenario – Wenger going after Lewandowski or Griezmann – could play out.
There is word that Lyon are demanding bids as high as £60m for Lacazette and as of now Arsenal have remained silent after their initial £30m offer was flatly rejected. Riyad Mahrez, though, reportedly keen on a move to the Emirates Stadium, is also said to be hesitant to force the move through.
Furthermore, with strong indication from Leicester City that the top management are adamant on retaining their star attacker, it seems quite the unlikely signing for Arsenal.
Lastly, the Guardian lists a report by German title Bild that current Arsenal attacker Ozil is keen on a return to the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. Both he and Sanchez are said to be wish-washy on renewing contracts with Arsenal.

Several of Arsenal’s summer offensive targets are looking less and less likely to extend their stay. As a result, the Guardian deduce that tough times might see the French boss live up to his previous remarks on his willingness to splash on major signings this summer. Wenger’s belief hinges on Lewandowski’s apparent hesitation to sign a new contract with Bayern Munich.
However, despite these numerous supporting evidence, Lewandowski is the Bundesliga title holder’s star forward and the German top flight’s top scorer from last season. And with Greizmann’s recent contract renewal for 5 more years and his buyout clause placed at just shy of £86m, it is looking extremely unlikely Arsene Wenger will splurge big time for either star attacker, keeping in mind his recent reaction to Mourinho’s record-breaking purchase of Pogba and his track-record of frugal signings and management.
So the question is not should Le Prof sign either the former BVB or ex-Real Sociedad ace, as both would be stellar signings. However, what many should wonder is whether signing the Polish or French stars is even possible.
