On loan Arsenal star Wellington Silva has been impressing with UD Almeria recently, and his latest performance even garnered him a place in Spanish publication Marca’s La Liga Team of the Week, shown in the screen shot below…
The Brazilian star has been on our books since 2011, when we signed him from Fluminese. He has been unable to get a work permit however, and has therefore been forced out on loan on five separate occasions.
The 22-year-old has finally been granted a permit this season though (via Daily Mail), and will therefore be able to turn out for Arsenal next season. His contract is coming to an end however, so after all this time he may not even get a chance.
His performances recently may be enough to convince Arsene Wenger that a new contract should be offered, but he will no doubt struggle to get any first-team action at the Emirates. The tricky winger has at least been impressing in La Liga though, with his display during Almeria’s 3-0 win over Granada earning him a place in the Team of the Week.

He appears to be a late bloomer, and so far hasn’t shown enough to suggest he is Arsenal material. He still has a while to prove himself however, and could still blossom into a star.
