Arsene Wenger is under pressure to sign a new striker this summer, and the player he’s apparently looking to bring to the Emirates is Daniel Sturridge, according to the Mirror.
The 26-year-old has continually struggled with injuries throughout his career, but when he has been fit there’s no denying he knows where the goal is. He has that selfish streak that so many good strikers require to excel, and his goals could certainly help us push to the next level.
The fact that new Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp doesn’t appear to have taken to the England striker all that well has only increased speculation that he’s heading for the exit, with Arsenal seemingly a potential destination.
We’ve really lacked goals this season, with Alexis Sanchez not scoring as freely while Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck just haven’t been cutting it. The Mirror’s report suggests we could add more firepower with a £30m bid for Sturridge, but it’s questionable whether he’s really worth that much.
The former Chelsea and Manchester City man’s injury problems make him a constant liability, with the forward barely able to string a few games together over the last couple of seasons. We already have plenty of injury prone players in our squad, and one more crocked £30m man is really not needed.

That said though, an injury prone striker shouldn’t necessarily be overlooked. Sergio Aguero is someone who has struggled terribly with injuries throughout his career, yet he is still consistently among the top scorers in the Premier League. Sturridge obviously isn’t on his level, but if we could get him fit for an entire season then he’d unquestionably add something to our side.
