Arsenal have reportedly tabled an offer for Olympiacos goalkeeper Roberto Jimenez who has a £4.3million release clause in his contract which may cast fresh doubts about David Ospina’s future, the Metro reports.
Following the arrival of Petr Cech, there was always going to be some changes made to our goalkeeping department and that it’s exactly what we’ve seen.
Wojciech Szczesny and Emiliano Martinez have both gone on loan to Roma and Wolverhampton Wanderers respectively though we’re now slightly short in terms of senior goalkeepers.
David Ospina and Petr Cech remain, however, Wenger has very rarely gone into a grueling season with just two goalkeepers of note that he can call upon.
Arsenal transfer news
Therefore, the reports linking us with Jiminez makes sense although it’s difficult to see us paying a transfer fee for the player with our two loanee shot-stoppers still highly regarded by Wenger.

With other areas of the pitch in need of some attention, it wouldn’t be ideal to dip into our finite transfer budget for a department we’re well covered in.
