Mathieu Debuchy secured a move away from Arsenal this January to try and work his way back into the France squad for the Euro 2016 Championships, but his chances of featuring have just taken a massive hit due to injury, as reported by the Express.
The on-loan right-back suffered an injury almost immediately after joining Bordeaux on loan for the remainder of the season, and now looks set to miss a few weeks of action.
“Tests have revealed a muscular injury. The France international will be unavailable for a period of between two and three weeks,” read a Bordeaux statement.
Breaking into the France squad was already going to be difficult, with a couple of decent right-backs ahead of him in the pecking order. The fact that he’s barely featured in the Premier League over the last 18 months obviously isn’t helping his case, and he’s got a lot of making up to do over the next few months.
It may already be too late for him, and injuries to the ageing full-back obviously aren’t going to make things any easier.

It wouldn’t be a surprise to see Debuchy leave the club at the end of the season, and it’s hard to see him ever pulling on an Arsenal shirt again. He looked like an excellent signing when he first arrived from Newcastle, but since being usurped by Hector Bellerin during a spell on the sidelines he’s been a shadow of his former self.
