Arsenal midfielder Mathieu Flamini has stirred the pot ahead of our Community Shield clash against Chelsea on Sunday by claiming that the Blues did us a favour by handing us Petr Cech this summer, The Evening Standard reports.
Cech’s arrival surprised many with very few examples of a Premier League club strengthening a rival to the extent of which we’ve benefited from this window.
At 33-years-old, Cech still has a lot to offer and while he was always set to leave west London due to Thibaut Courtois’s presence, Flamini is surprised that he’s been allowed to join us.

“I was surprised by Mourinho because he really doesn’t do that,” Flamini was quoted as saying.
“He’s a competitor and usually doesn’t like to sell any players to his rivals, but it’s a good favour for us and now we have to take advantage.”

Cech is preparing to come up against his old team for the first time since his departure, which will also coincidently be his first competitive game for us.
With our record against Chelsea in recent years bordering on embarrassing, perhaps the Czech international can offer us an insight as to how Mourinho will line up?
Hopefully, he can help us claim an important victory and subsequently clinch our third trophy before the season has even begun.
