For years now Arsene Wenger’s excuse for not signing a world class striker has been that none have been available, and as much as many fans refused to accept it, for the most part it has been true. Now it looks as though a top quality striker may well be available though, with Antoine Griezmann apparently listening to offers from other clubs this summer, as reported by the Daily Mail.
As Wenger has reiterated again and again over the last couple of seasons that money is no longer an issue and he’s willing to spend, buying Griezmann really should be a no brainer.
We’ve needed a world class striker for years now, but as Wenger said, the likes of Robert Lewandowski, Karim Benzema, or Luis Suarez just haven’t been available to us. Griezmann could be, and even if it requires a club record bid we should do everything we can to bring him to the Emirates.
The 25-year-old has been phenomenal since making the move to Atletico, scoring 22 goals in the league alone this season – 32 in all competitions. He’s reportedly being chased by the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea (via the Daily Mail), but with Champions League football this season and his compatriot Wenger at the helm maybe we can convince him to make the move to north London.
The report suggests he’s been offered a new contract, but is yet to agree anything. His agent spoke to French publication L’Equipe, insisting that they were currently listening to offers from different clubs regarding the striker’s future.

“Contrary to certain claims announcing that Antoine at Atletico next season will be the case without fail, nothing has been decided or endorsed,” he said.
“We are currently listening to different clubs who also offer real interest and attraction.”
This may just be a way to force a higher contract offer out of Atletico, with Griezmann’s agent merely trying to earn himself and his client more money. If it’s not though, then we need to be moving for the forward, who could unquestionably prove to be a superb signing.
Arsenal transfer news
Whether he’d want to come to Arsenal is another question entirely, but we’ll never know unless we try to sign him.
