‘Bouncebackability’ is a term that was coined by Iain Dowie, and he might as well have had Arsenal in mind when he did so. We have always struggled to overcome disappointing losses, and we regularly see our form in other competitions suffer. That speaks volumes about the mentality of a coach, and I’m sorry to say it seems Arsene Wenger has a fragile personality.

A coach is meant to rally his troops, make them forget about the loss immediately, and move on to the next game with a positive mindset. They may win ugly, but that vital next win will help restore a bit of the confidence lost in the defeat.
Sir Alex Ferguson was always able to get his team back on the horse after a painful loss, which is why Manchester United were such a successful club. Jose Mourinho has that ruthless streak too, a streak that does not allow any of his players to become complacent. It was actually admirable for them to continue winning after the heavy loss to Tottenham.
The Champions League might not have gone according to plan, but we cannot afford to dwell on it for long. We are still chasing a Champions League spot, and it would be devastating to drop out of the top three after working so hard to get there.

We have a Premier League game coming up against Everton at home, which gives as a chance to right the wrongs of the game against Monaco. A win would help us regain some of our confidence, and – even if only for a few weeks – would put us nine points behind Chelsea.
Liverpool will be hosting Manchester City, and if the champions drop points then we are even closer to second place. It’s a win-win game for us, as even if City win then at least we’ll have some more breathing space – another top four rival having lost ground. We can’t afford to lost against Everton, and we need this win for so many reasons.
