It has been officially announced that a quintet of young, British stars have signed new deals with Arsenal, committing their future to the club.
English quartet Kieran Gibbs (23), Carl Jenkinson (20), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (19) and Jack Wilshere (20) as well as Welshman Aaron Ramsey (21) put pen to paper, showing Theo Walcott how it’s done.
All five stars are full international’s with Ramsey the most capped with 24 and formerly captained his country. Wilshere and Oxlade-Chamberlain are now first choice for Roy Hodgson’s England side, and attacking wing back duo Jenkinson and Gibbs are relatively new with a single and two caps respectively but are expected to be future regulars.
Between them the quintet have already made more than 350 first-team appearances for the Gunners, which demonstrates Wenger and Arsenal’s faith in youth and proving that if your good enough you will get the chance to play no matter the age.
Arsene Wenger said on the star’s commitment to the club:
We are delighted that these five young players have all signed new long-term contracts. The plan is to build a team around a strong basis of young players, in order to get them to develop their talent at the Club. Jack is certainly the best known, the leader of this group – but the other four players are exceptional footballers, and we’re very happy that we could conclude their new deals at the same time.

Gibbs, Jenkinson, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Ramsey and Wilshere represent a core of the squad and it’s an extension for a long period for all of them. I’m a strong believer in stability and I believe when you have a core of British players, it’s always easier to keep them together and that’s what we’ll try to achieve going forward.
Congratulations to the group, it is very positive for the future of the club to have a whole host of future and present Gunner stars committing their futures to Arsenal at a time when the club has struggled with tying down key members of the squad over the past few seasons.
Next up Walcott (hopefully..)!
