The Gunners defence has taken another blow with Johan Djourou the lastest casualty to the already depleted Gunners backline.
With Keiran Gibbs (hernia), Carl Jenkinson (back), Andre Santos and Bacary Sagna (both ankle) all out, Arsene Wenger has been forced to field a makeshift backline that consists of four centre halfs in the past two matches.
Now further pressure is placed on the already depleted defence with Djourou suffering from a groin injury in yesterday’s Manchester City Premier League loss, with Wenger stating that an injury of this kind will usually result in a 21 day layoff.
Youngster Miquel played well when he entered the Etihad pitch after halftime, so he looks to be Djourou’s replacement but playing on the left, with Koscielny shifting to the right. Wenger cannot afford any more injuries to his backline in the next couple of weeks, however injury-prone Keiran Gibbs should be available for either this weeks match against Aston Villa, or next weekends fixture against Wolves.
