It has been revealed by Flavio Ferraria, the agent of Arsenal’s want-away player Johan Djourou, that a move to Italy is on the cards for the Swiss international.
Djourou has recently been urged by Switzerland manager Ottmar Hitzfeld that he needs to leave the Emirates in order to gain regular playing time in order to assure a starting spot on the international stage.
As well as advice from his manager, Djourou has also spoken of his desire to go elsewhere in order to gain regular match-time after becoming a bit-part player in the Arsenal squad, only making 14 Premier League appearances last season.
Ferraria is quoted as saying by Goal.com on Djourou’s possible future:
Can [Johan] Djourou join Napoli? It’s certainly possible, especially as we will be in Italy next week for a series of appointments.
At the moment Napoli are not on the list of appointments, but everything is possible.
If he leaves the Premier League, then he will play in Italy or Spain.

I saw my client the other day and he was enthusiastic about both Napoli and Italy in general.
So far we have received an offer worth €10 million [£8.1m], but it is up for negotiation.
He wants to play for one of the top five Italian clubs.
There is no doubt that Djourou has fallen far down the pecking order in terms of the centre-back position. With the arrival of Per Mertesacker, he now sits as the fourth choice centre-back and it doesn’t look at all probable that he will get any more minutes on the pitch anytime soon.
Personally speaking, I have never felt that Djourou has been of the calibre required to be an Arsenal player, but in saying this he has always been a fringe player often being used in times where injury to other players requires him to fill in.
What do you guys think about Djourou? Should Arsenal try to keep him of should they let him leave? Feel free to leave a comment below or discuss Djourou in the allArsenal.com Forums in the Transfer Rumours thread!
