Although Arsenal target Lukas Podolski has hinted at a move away from Bundesliga club FC Koln, general manager Volker Finke expects the striker to sign a new contract.
Earlier this week Podolski said:
I can jump to no conclusions about my future.
I have always stressed that my future is open and said that I will have to wait and see about the state of the club’s sporting situation.
I am pleased that things are going well for me, but I also know that football is a daily business.
The German international has been linked with the gunners for approximately two years and it is currently reported that Wenger sees the striker as an ideal signing to help ease the pressure on Arsenal talisman Robin van Persie.
But amidst speculation about his future Finke has attempted to quell the idea of Podolski leaving the German club saying:
I am trying to stay indifferent to rumours like this, we all know what we are facing.
Sometime around Christmas we will be going to meet to try and thrash out the contract extension of Lukas Podolski.

I have already spoken to his agent, Kon Schramm. We have no clear date just now.
Maybe we will meet two weeks before Christmas or two weeks after Christmas. We should fix this without any pressure.
With back-up players such as Chamakh and Park simply under-performing when given the chance to prove their worth, perhaps signing the German international would be a good move for the gunners by providing added quality and also added incentive for RVP to stay.
