Combative midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong has been ruled out for the rest of the season at least after rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in Wolverhampton Wanderers’ match at QPR.
Frimpong, who is currently on loan at Wolves, suffered a similar injury to his left knee in 2010, which prevented him from breaking into the first team as he was out for the season. No date has yet been put down for his return, but it is expected that he will be out for at least 6-9 months.
The 20 year old was withdrawn 23 minutes into the victory at Loftus Road, ending his loan spell prematurely after a cruel injury.
Wolves said on their official website:
Emmanuel Frimpong is returning back to Arsenal after it was confirmed he ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in Saturday’s Premier League game at QPR.
Frimpong, who had been due to stay on loan at Molineux until the end of the season, will now see specialists in London over the next few days before having surgery and starting a programme of rehabilitation.
The midfielder, who suffered the same injury to his left knee in 2010, had made an impressive start to his temporary spell at Wolves, catching the eye during his five appearances in gold and black.

Frimpong is expected to be out for a number of months and will therefore miss the remainder of this season. Everyone at Wolves would like to thank the midfielder for his efforts whilst at the club and join Arsenal in wishing him a swift recovery.
Unfortunately he only managed five appearances for Wolves, making one assist, but put in some fantastic performances that would have developed his ability and experience ahead of his return to the Gunners.
Despite the latest setback the Ghanian Englishman remains his upbeat self after taking to Twitter:
Bad News is that I’m out for 6-9months with my Knee Gd News is that I will therefore have all the time in my hands to be doin #frimmyfacts. I wanna thank all the wolves fans for their support since I’ve been here and really Hope wolves stay up this season.
