The topsy turvy player that is Andrei Arshavin has hinted that he may be ready to leave the Emirates after revealing he feels ‘glued to the bench’.
Arshavin has only completed one Barclays Premier League game for the gunners this season and has mainly been resigned to the bench after falling out of favour with Arsene Wenger following the availability of new signing Gervinho.
Arshavin voiced his frustration over having limited game-time saying:
Right now I don’t think about changing clubs. If I will be benched for a very long time, then such an issue might be relevant.
I still want to play for 90 minutes, but now I am glued to the bench. I wouldn’t like to play for a Russian club other than Zenit.
It is reported that German club Schalke and big spending club Anzhi are interested in the Russian. No doubt Arsenal will want a bidding war between the two in order to recoup as much funds as they can out of the Russians sale. But with Arshavin himself saying he wouldn’t return to the Russian league unless it was for Zenit, things could become a bit more complex.
What do you guys think? Should Arsenal try and retain Arshavin or if we get a decent price for the Russian should the gunners let him leave? Feel free to leave a comment below!
