Arsenal will face German giants and 2012 Champions League runners-up Bayern Munich in the next stage of the Champions League in what will be a very tough test for Arsene Wenger’s men.
As Arsenal finished second of their group, they will play the first leg of this knockout round at the Emirates with the second leg played at the Allianz Arena.
Out of the possible opponents, it would be fair to say that this side was one of the less ideal candidates with either Malaga or Juventus the preferred options, although in saying this United will rue their luck drawing Spanish heavyweights Real Madrid as their opponents.
There were certainly much weaker opposition available to United, but they must do it the hard way if they are to progress passed the first knockout round.
The line-up for the first knock-out stage is as follows:
Galatasaray v Schalke
