The revelation itself is somewhat odd, particularly when you factor in Villa Boas’ torrid time at Chelsea where he had reportedly couldn’t get the respect of key players and couldn’t get the results necessary despite having a very strong squad to choose from.
It could be argued however the he wasn’t really given free-rein at the club due to Roman Abramovich as he is now beginning to prove doubters wrong at his new club Tottenham.
Holtby is quoted as saying by the Mirror on why he chose Tottenham:
[Tottenham] are not a small club and have an insanely good manager.
More worrying for Arsenal is that the lure of Arsene Wenger and Arsenal seems to be fading. A few seasons ago young players such as Holtby would have leapt at the chance to join Arsenal with Wenger as their mentor.
In any case, the Frenchman has the chance to prove us wrong the January and has suggested that he may look into the transfer market with a very very busy January ahead. Here’s hoping we get a couple of quality signings!
