Morning Gooners. Quick round up this morning and firstly apologies if you are having issues with the site, we are on the case!
A bit of mixed news on the injury front yesterday with Jack Wilshere returning in just over a week and Danny Welbeck closing in on his return however that comes at the expense of Alexis Sanchez who is a doubt for this weekend’s home clash with Aston Villa.
There has also been some fantastic pieces on new signing Gabriel Pauilsta, as well as his first interview with the club.
Anyway let’s start with the good news.

Jack Wilshere set for early return reveals Arsene Wenger
Arsene Wenger has revealed some cracking news on Jack Wilshere who is just ten days away from rejoining full training. He’s nicely ahead of schedule after recovering from his nasty ankle injury sustained in November against Manchester United.
His original return date was around March and it appears Shad Forsythe is working his magic as Wilshere becomes the second player alongside Olivier Giroud who have progressed far quicker than expected.
Danny Welbeck set for North London Derby return
The Gunners striker has hardly been missed since his thigh injury toward the end of last year with Olivier Giroud spearheading the attack to great affect, and Alexis Sanchez slotting in on the occasion. The former Manchester United man is closing in on a full return however, with Arsene Wenger confirming he could be in contention for next weekend’s North London Derby at White Hart Lane.
Wenger reveals Alexis Sanchez injury blow ahead of Aston Villa clash
And then the bad news. Arsene Wenger confirmed star man Alexis Sanchez is a doubt for this weekends Premier League clash at home to Aston Villa. The Chilean attacker is suffering with a hamstring injury and could be forced to sit out on Sunday.
Luckily Arsenal have Theo Walcott and Mesut Ozil back in the mix to provide exciting alternatives. No doubt his absence will be a blow, but with Spurs around the corner we need Alexis 100% fit.
Thierry Henry sets himself on path to take up coaching role at Arsenal
Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has begun his long journey to become a qualified manager as has started to earn his coaching badges.
The newly retired striker has become a highly paid Sky Sports Pundit and has been hotly tipped to take over the hot seat at Arsenal in the future. But considering he has only just started the coaching process as a side project he will be some way off taking over from Arsene Wenger.
Comparing Gabriel Paulista’s stats to Arsenal’s current defensive options
Ashley dove into the stats yesterday to compare Gabriel Paulista with our current centre-back options.
The stats are decent, and on paper seems a heck of a defender. Will he cope with the rigors of the Premier League? Only time will tell.
Discussing whether Gabriel Paulista should go straight into Arsenal’s starting XI
Ash also asks the question if new signing Gabriel Paulista is ready immediately for first team action. Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker have been undoubtedly the number one partnership at Arsenal, but can the arrival of the Brazilian from Villarreal throw a spanner in the works?
With the huge number of games Mertesacker has played this season and Koscielny’s ongoing Achilles problem it would be no real surprise to see some of Paulista sooner rather than later.
All in all a very busy day at the office yesterday with some positive news on the injury front to boot. We will be here later with our pre-match thoughts as we prepare for Sunday’s clash at Emirates.
With that in mind, do you think Wenger should rest Alexis this weekend if he is doubtful? Share your thoughts below.
